The twenty first anniversary of the Stockton International Riverside Festival proved to be a great success with large crowds enjoying a first class programme.

Commenting on the festival Jan Doherty Festival Co-ordinator said "Acts from around the world delighted the thousands of visitors who came to our town and once again we proved Stockton offers a festival experience to rival any other in the country. People expect a lot from our festivals and our 21st anniversary didn’t disappoint. Highlights included the Flying Dragon Circus, an amazing performance from the Happy Mondays and an explosive finale late Sunday evening.
"The festival is always different and it’s a challenge to be constantly surprising but it’s a challenge we relish. We never stop looking for new acts and we’re already working on 2009’s festival".
